What is time of day routing?

Time of day call routing is a call forwarding feature that allows incoming calls to get routed to the right agent, team, or voicemail based on the time of the call. Time of Day routing allows calls to be forwarded to a specific extension depending on the time of day, day of the week and/or holidays.

Oftentimes, you can set up more than one forwarding rule at a time in order to cover office hours, local holidays, and other scenarios. Whether you own a small business with multiple locations or a large business handling high demand, time-based routing is a great feature to use.

When to use time of day routing

Time of day routing has a variety of uses, whether it be for handling calls outside of office hours, planned downtimes, holidays, and more. Whenever calls need to be diverted for such situations, time of day routing comes in handy.
